A surgical tech or SPD role at Centura Health is not just an opportunity to be a difference-maker, it's the chance to harness the knowledge, support and potential that surrounds you. The Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms. Day to Day duties: Scrub on all cases. Primarily; GEN, Ortho (Trauma) Neuro, Spine, ENT, Eyes, GU, Robotics, Vascular, Endovascular, Cardiac, Trauma, GYN.Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations. Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day's cases. Maintaining Sterile field during procedures. Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeons needs. Maintaining and updating preference cards. 12 OR Suites. Expansion +5 new ORS anticipated Dec 2022Approx. 450-500 cases per monthWhat You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: * One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred* Previous OR Experience preferred * Experience in a specialty field preferred* Basic Computer skills required* High School Diploma or GED required* Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required* Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program preferred* Current registration as a Surgical Tech is required unless performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another verified Colorado license, certification or registration requiredPhysical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)Your Connected Community:When people and places align, incredible things happen. Just like the 21,000+ amazing associates who work here, every community within Centura Health's connected ecosystem has its own unique history, story and personality. St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I trauma center, which allows the Perioperative Department to see a wide range of patient needs and acuity levels. We are unique in the Centura Health system and in the community because have a designated trauma room that is at the ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The trauma room (T-10) allows for the facility to triage any patient meeting specific criteria in an operating room, bypassing the ED, and has a designated response team of approximately eight different units with unique roles during a trauma team activation allowing prompt immediate surgical intervention within minutes of arrival by our partners in EMS and Flight for Life. The surgical unit itself has 12 rooms including the trauma room, a hybrid room, designated cardiac OR and a Cystoscopy room. We have two DaVinci Xi Robotic systems allowing us to provide robotically assisted procedures in general, urology, gynecology and thoracic specialties. Currently there are 17 different specialties provided here at SAH including trauma, neuro, ortho, general, cardiac, vascular, ENT, plastics, urology, GYN, thoracic, and more. Our caseload for 2019 was 5,859 procedures in this unit alone. We have one specialized team for cardiac, all other associates are cross-trained for all remaining specialties allowing for increased knowledge base of surgical procedures, skill level and ability to cover any patient care needs. We offer various shifts and schedule opportunities so associates can maintain a positive work-life balance.
