At Centura Health, we value incredible people with incredible skills - but your commitment to a greater cause is something we value even more.  Assists in smooth daily operations of the operating rooms by performing room preparation and assembling needed supplies and instruments for specialty service lines. Coordinates functions and activities of all surgical specialties - maintaining appropriate supplies, instruments, vendor needs and physician preferences. Covers specialty service in absence of the Charge Nurse. Maintains clinical expertise, and assists in training staff and orienting new hires in all aspects of the specialties - procedures, equipment, advances in technology and advances in clinical practice. Participates in strategic planning and related implementation activities. In the scrub role, performs all functions of the role in a manner that is consistent with a positive role model and in line with best practice. Day to Day duties: Scrub on all cases Primarily, High Acuity Complex cases, Transplant (Liver, Living related Kidney, Paired Kidney exchanges), Ortho (Trauma/Totals/Sprots Medicine), Robotics (DaVinci XI), GEN, Complex Spine, Cardiothoracic, Vascular, ophthalmic, Colorectal, foregut, GYN, GYN ONC. Dedicated Service lines, but associates are cross trained for all services. Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations. Assisting with Room turnover and restocking for next day's cases. Maintaining Sterile field during procedures. Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon's needs. Maintaining and updating preference cards.What You Bring/Job Requirements:In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: * 2 Years O.R. experience* HS/GED required* Completion of an approved course for Surgical Technologist* Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association* Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech required* Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) requiredMedium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)Your Connected Community:Located in central Denver's historic Washington Park residential neighborhood, Porter Adventist Hospital associates enjoy beautiful surroundings, leading technology, outstanding leadership, and easy access to everything great central Denver has to offer.
