Dental assistants at the full-performance level (FPL) of the position have the ability to perform a full range of clinical duties and perform assigned selected procedures with independence, as allowed by state law. Duties and procedures may be assigned by the lead or supervisory dental assistant or dentist. Full-performance dental assistants assist the dentist in all aspects of direct patient care and perform other clinical and clerical functions with independence.
